School is exhausting and lonely, work is blah and meh, and city life is busy and loud. Come sneak away to Loon Lake Lodge and Retreat Centre with us for a long weekend of rest, community, and transformation. We'll be learning stories of the boss women of the Bible, diving into who we are and becoming with Enneagram workshops, and worshipping our God led by Ukulele Church (which is exactly what it sounds like). Also good food, late night board games, and campfires--it's a weekend you'll want to show up for.
$300 COVERS *Everything* Meals, Accommodation, Travel, Program Materials, Snacks. Go to FirstThirdMinistry.ca for Registration & Bursary Intel. Don't Let $$$ keep you away. Keep reading for more information about what we will be doing! Theme and Worship
The team of Allison Rennie, Catherine Stuart, Linnea Good and David Jonsson are leading the theme and worship this year. Worship will be fun and story-based experience inspired by Linnea and Catherine’s weekly worship called Ukulele Church! – yes, you could find a ukulele in your hands during the retreat. Theme sessions with Allison will focus on an interactive learning about the ancient spiritual / psychological tool called The Enneagram. Learning about the Enneagram will help you deepen your knowledge of your self and give insight into the 9 different ways we are energized to engage with others, community and the world. Previous experience with the Enneagram is not necessary at all – and is welcome if you are already somewhat familiar with the model. An Ordained Minister in The United Church of Canada, and co- minister of Ukulele Church, Catherine Stuart hails from Glace Bay, NS, but currently lives in Riverview, NB, serving as the Regional Minister for Children, Youth and Young Adults for the three Atlantic Regions. A liturgical dancer, Ukulele player, singer and liturgist, Catherine loves to bring together all of these things in her ministry. She shares this adventure with her husband, Rev. Scott Stuart, and their 11 year old son, Ethan. She is thrilled that all of the things she loves best have come together in what we call Ukulele Church! Linnea Good is a composer, performer, worship leader, accredited biblical storyteller and Christian educator. Well known in the Canadian church, she has written music for hymn resources around the globe. She and drummer-spouse David Jonsson live in Summerland BC, where they strike an un-balance between Linnea's local and online music teaching, and their work in concerts, conferences, missions and worship animating for the wider Church. The most fun of those ministries is "Ukulele Church" - which combines ukulele learning with bible telling and devotion. She and David have been blessed to travel regularly to India where they have shared in music ministry and biblical storytelling instruction with Christian leaders. Linnea heads the Network of Biblical Storytellers Canada, which hosts an exciting annual festival of telling. She has recorded weekly videos of lectionary-based scripture for an online audience since the first day of lock-down. An educator within the UCC for over 30 years, Allison Rennie is a gifted teacher and deeply passionate about nurturing the spirituality of people of all ages. Allison is a trained SoulCollage® facilitator, Spiritual Director, former program director at Naramata Centre and Director of LeaderSHIFT for the regional council of the United Church of Canada. With a double major in Christianity and Culture, and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and Consciousness, Allison is always looking for the possibility of story, song, poetry and action to enliven the spiritual path. A good mystery, a great movie, a fresh loaf of bread, a moment of learning, a good question, big work and a deep conversation – all of this is fuel for Allison’s creativity! The gifts of group facilitation, hosting important conversation, engaging in spiritual practice and serious playing are central to Allison’s practice of leadership. Allison is now consulting, writing, gardening and staying curious! |
