Facilitated by United Church of Canada staff members, Adele Halliday, Amy Crawford and Mary Nichol, and VST Course Instructor, Tony Peterson

This 3-session Series accompanies those who are attending VST Summer School course "A Spirituality of Race for Children and Youth (and those Who Love Them)".

The goal of this free cohort series is for those, as VST course participants, to actively engage in acquiring knowledge and to learn how to transform our individual behaviours. Leaders will journey together in learning and practice in engaging in acts of anti racism and work to restoring right relationship.

A complimentary copy of Dr. Ibram X Kendi’s new book ‘How to Raise an Antiracist’ is included in your sign up!


  • Requirements: Registered in the VST Course "A Spirituality of Race for Children and Youth"
  • Cost: Free
  • Online Sessions via Zoom (in addition to the VST course dates):
    • Session 1 - Friday June 24 with Adele, Amy, Mary
    • Session 2 - Friday July 15 with Tony, Adele, Amy, Mary
    • Session 3 - Friday October 14 with Tony, Adele, Amy, Mary
  • Time: 9:30-11am (PT)

(Paid) VST Summer School Course with Tony Peterson: "A Spirituality of Race for Children and Youth (and Those Who Love Them)"


FUNDING IS AVAILABLE toward this VST Course's fee. Full details are below the VST Course Description.

This Vancouver School of Theology Summer School Course will explore the history and development of race in North American contexts, including the role of Christianity. It will demonstrate the importance and execution of race conversation with children and youth.
It will include personal practices to engage children, youth, and adults in productive work toward racial justice.

Course will be taught in person at Vancouver School of Theology (Vancouver), and via Zoom for distance students (certificate & degree students must connect synchronously if studying via Zoom).
