This week, social media has been busy sharing the news of the region’s newest campus minister for the University of Northern British Columbia, Kendra Mitchell-Foster!, and sharing pictures of and information about UNBC. Join Campus Ministry Animator, Daniel Martin, and all PMRC staff in our warm welcome of Kendra to the team! I have had a rich and interesting journey to ministry, and am so thrilled that these next steps of my journey are walking with campus communities in the north. Most recently, I have been at the forefront of the Affirming Ministry journeys of the first two LGBTTQ2SIA+ Affirming congregations in Prince George (Trinity United Church, and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church), and am completing a Field Placement at the Interfaith Spiritual Care Centre at the University of Northern British Columbia. Christian education at all ages and stages of life is a passion of mine, as well as community building in vibrant multi-faith and multi-cultural relationships driven by the values of peace and peace-making, justice, respect, love, and joyful embodiment of spirit. My passion for combining spirit and movement is central to joyful embodiment of spirit, and to bringing spiritual practice into daily life for myself, others, and within community-building relationships. I bring decades of working in poverty and health justice projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as working in health justice efforts partnering with Indigenous communities in northern British Columbia. I’m currently in my third year of a Masters of Theological Studies in Diaconal Ministry (a joint program with the Centre for Christian Studies and St. Stephen’s College at the University of Alberta), and on track for commissioning as a Diaconal Minister in the United Church upon completion. – Kendra Visit CampusUnited.ca to discover more about the ways God’s energy is moving in ministry with young adults in our regional council. We encourage you to include Kendra in your prayers, in her ministry with students in Prince George.
A commitment of the Pacific Mountain Regional Council executive and our shared Chinook Winds Pacific Mountain First Third Ministry staff team is to foster and support ministry with people in the first-third of their life’s journey – people birth to about 36 years of age, which includes young adults! Over the past couple of years, ministry for post-secondary folks in our regional council has grown in new ways, building on a long legacy of Campus Ministry at the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia. For this, we give thinks! Dear friends,
We are so sorry to have to delay and cancel so many of the things that we were all looking forward to doing together. As soon as it is safe to do so, we will meet again! January events being cancelled/ postponed are:
Our prayer for you and your loved ones is that you stay safe and healthy and that you might feel the presence of God and the light of Christ in this very tough time. One of the best things about being church is the care we share with one another in community, thank you for being that care and love for others and know that we are here for you if you are feeling overwhelmed – let’s connect!
